I seek to help people by understanding them in the context of their past and present family and social systems. I work to understand the issues and symptoms that limit people, as well as the strengths and beliefs that have been useful and meaningful to them.

I believe that people have within them an innate drive to achieve health and a sense of well being, as well as a place within family and their larger community. I believe that an empathetic relationship within a safe therapeutic environment provides people with the opportunity to overcome the problems that bring them to therapy. The safety of the relationship allows people to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and provides an opportunity to create a more meaningful and satisfying life. My communication style is direct, clear and compassionate.

I use a collaborative process to involve people in determining the goals and direction of therapy. I draw upon several treatment models in addressing the particular problem presented.
